Q.  Why does Windows run (and fail) “chkdsk” during startup even though I know the OS and hard drive are good; it booted fine earlier today.

A.  Outside of an update to Windows, ensure all disk drives are disconnected from their slots (octanes) and the cables are disconnected from their adapter’s port(s) prior to powering on the system/booting up Windows.
